Contact Rugby Tournament

A team from our school recently took part in their first contact rugby tournament in Newtownards. Following the tournament, the press statement below was released by the tournament organisers on their website and facebook pages. As you will read, our players were highly commended for their performances.

"Today we held the North Down Rugby Festival. We had 10 schools playing full contact rugby at P7 level. A great standard of rugby was seen and complemented on, especially Kircubbin Integrated Primary School, whose team consisted of 8 females and 3 males. They battled hard against other schools that have been playing rugby since P4. This was commendable as they have only been playing now for 5 months.

Joy Sparkes, Ulster Rugby, who has 15 caps for Ireland, said this was the most talented group of young ladies and boys she has seen with limited contact time. She also thought they would look great wearing a green jersey in the future. Well done to them and their teacher/coach Mrs Gallagher."
