From Tuesday 22nd May-Friday 25th May Primary 7 were on their residential at Carrowmena Outdoor Activity Sports Centre in Limavady.
After a two hour bus journey from school the Primary 7 pupils arrived at Carrowmena ready for an introduction to the staff, the centre and their rooms. This was followed by orienteering and a warm lunch. After lunch the main activity was canoeing. It was great to get out on the water in the warm weather. Following dinner the pupils completed a mini-olympics event and team quiz game.
Day Two saw the first full day of activities. In the morning session pupils completed a zip line and also got to climb on the climbing wall. This was followed by lunch and then stand up paddle boarding back on the river. This was many pupils favourite activity and everyone had plenty of opportunities to jump in the water and have fun.
On day three the pupils woke up to another sunny day in preparation for the hill walk. The 4.5 mile hill walk up the nearby mountain took in some excellent views over the longest flat coastline in Northern Ireland. They also had the opportunity to have their packed lunch in the forest before returning to the centre. In the afternoon the pupils completed further climbing activities on the tri-stack and had races through the inflatable assault course. In the evening, all the pupils settled down to watch a dvd with s’mores on their last night.
After waking up, having breakfast and packing, the pupils had time for two final activities. These activities involved archery and a further climbing activity called Jacob’s Ladder. This was followed by lunch and the final bus journey home.
It was a great four days full of activities, sun and plenty of fun!
